Ampersand: Exploring the Creative DNA of Landor & Fitch

An editorial deep-dive into one of the world's most influential branding agencies. The goal was to translate Landor & Fitch's legacy into a format that felt as considered as their work. That meant going beyond a visual retrospective and into the thinking behind the agency: its history, leadership, culture, and the creative breakthroughs that cemented its reputation. Research and design had to carry equal weight, with every spread earning its place.

The result is a book that moves through the agency's story section by section, using bold typographic spreads, structured grid layouts, and monochromatic palettes to reflect Landor & Fitch's own philosophy. To complete the experience, the packaging was custom-designed and hand-finished with a laser-cut acrylic ampersand sitting proud on a black-painted wooden box.

Shawshank Redemption: Reimagined Poster Series

A personal redesign of one of cinema's most beloved films, distilled into a series of alternative posters. The brief was self-imposed: strip the film back to its emotional core and translate that feeling into print, without leaning on nostalgia or the original imagery.

Each poster in the series takes a different thematic lens. Typography, colour and composition do the heavy lifting. The result is a set of pieces that feel like the film thinks rather than looks.

American Typewriter: A Typographic Homage

An exploration of American Typewriter as both a typeface and a cultural artefact. The project unpacks its history from the mechanical typewriter era through to its modern digital life, examining how a utilitarian origin evolved into a signifier of nostalgia, authenticity, and craft.

The outcome is an editorial piece that uses the typeface extensively within its own design, letting the subject speak through its medium. Grid discipline and restraint carry the concept without overworking it.

Photography & Design2023

Traditional Attire of the Namibian People

A photographic and editorial project celebrating the rich textile traditions of Namibia's diverse peoples. The work documents the cultural significance of dress across different communities, framing garments as living language rather than costume.

Design decisions were made to honour rather than exoticise. Clean layouts, considered typography, and restrained colour palettes give the photography room to lead. The result is a body of work that feels like a record worth keeping.

Thebe Magugu: Decoding a South African Design Voice

An in-depth visual study of Thebe Magugu, the South African designer whose work bridges cultural commentary and high fashion. The project sets out to understand how his design language operates: the references he draws from, the systems he builds, and the stories he tells through cloth.

The outcome is an editorial that contextualises rather than catalogues. Archival research, design analysis, and original layouts build a portrait of a designer thinking seriously about where he comes from and where fashion can go.

Spar: A Rebrand Concept for a Retail Giant

A speculative rebrand of Spar, imagining how the global grocery chain might evolve its identity without abandoning its familiarity. The challenge was to find what is worth keeping and what is holding the brand back, then build a visual system around that answer.

The concept pushes toward warmth and locality rather than generic retail polish. A refreshed mark, tighter typographic system, and updated colour palette make the case that a brand with this much history can still feel new without feeling foreign.
